Made a date to return to work from parental leave, but you need more time at home? Under the National Employment Standards, eligible employees are entitled to 12 months’ unpaid parental leave. An employee on parental leave can also request to extend their unpaid leave by an additional 12 months (up to a total of 24 months from the date of birth or placement of the child).
